Children Understand Things

Happy Sabbath. :)

Something came to my mind today.

A few months ago, we were watching my dance competition dvd. In one dance, we wore booty shorts ( ugh ), and I remember what my seven year old brother said, it was something like " Aren't you uncomfortable with showing that much of your leg? "

That always amazed me. I don't quite know how to put it into words what that made me realize, but hopefully y'all understand what I mean.

A Wide Headband...for now

The reason I have chosen to wear ( most of the time ) headband until the next two months of dance are ovee is this.

I don't want people looking at me and saying. " She wears a head covering but dances in those outfits?! " This wide headband in the above pic ( it's black ) doesn't make such a big statement like the scarf does.

Though, I have to admit, I love wearing head coverings ( that cover a lot of my head/hair ) so much that I sometimes do put on a scarf. ( Wish I had a veil...oh well, maybe one day. :) )

Yahweh bless. :)

Some Thoughts...

I was looking around for modest clothing and such today, and I thought back to the dancing I do. It may cover the " necessaries ", but I want to cover more. I know that sometimes I may look like ( to others ) that I came from Little House on The Prairie, but there's nothing wrong with a female being feminine.

I just thought of something: I was at the competition, and I was waiting for awards. I had bought a bag of Skittles and a can of Coke. When I had sat down on the stairs, I had been eating a little bit before I looked back behind me a bit, and saw a man looking at me. UGH! See, there were benches up against the walls, and there were some guys sitting there. I don't remember the age of the guy looking at me, it was a bit weird, I guess.

I think back to the fact that we do not need to cause our brothers in Christ....or any man for that matter, to stumble. We need to be careful and mindful of how we dress. I'm not saying you have to cover everything ( unless it is your personal conviction for you to do so ) but let's not go to church in a miniskirt, let's not parade ourselves down the streets in clothing that we know will draw a man's ( or mens' ) attention. You will attract the wrong kind of people most likely if you do that. And using your body to draw someone's attention, is that Godly behavior? How does God describe a woman's behavior in the Bible? Go look, then see if your choice of outfit for the day matches up with it. God bless.

Modest Clothes and Dance

I am very confused sometimes. I feel comfortable in my dance costumes on stage, but off stage and comparing my dance costumes to my every day modest clothes? I feel hypocritical. Truth is, I don't feel like I can continue to wear those costumes and wear modest clothes and head coverings. But I still want to dance. I love competiting and performing, the adrenaline rush is wonderful, LOL. I need to post pictures of my outfits so you all can get an idea of what I'm given to wear. On another note, I found some veils and kapp-type coverings that cover the hair well. :) Here at http://www.mennonitemaiden.com/headcoverings1.html ( Hopefully I can buy from them sometime. )

My 100th Post!

This is my 100th post!

Well, not quite sure what to put. These weeks have been stressful, no matter what we try. My siblings act lazy and immature, and it really stresses me out that they make a big deal out of having to do a few, simple jobs.

Very depressing 100th post, but I feel stressed. I know my parents were broke on my birthday, but my mom said she hasn't forgotten my bday, yet she hasn't done anything.

I just feel useless because no matter what I seem to do, everything around the house is always out of control ( the mess ) and I don't want Dad stressed out because everything around him is a mess.

Sorry, we really need prayer.

Today has been a trying day....

Mom has to work outside the home, so guess who's babysitting three lovely siblings? Me.

Don't get me wrong, it's not that I mind, it's just their attitudes.

I sort of started the whole thing. I forgot Mom said we couldn't play on the Wii while she was gone ( because my siblings tend to play for longer periods of time, and they get cranky, which stresses my Dad out. He does not need to get stressed out. ), and I played for around an hour, maybe 2. ( Oops, time slipped away. )

When Dad and my three siblings got back, Jessica said something about me playing Wii. She either reminded me that we weren't supposed to play or it dawned on me.

Later my siblings started to play on it.

My seven year old brother has had a really, really bad attitude. I won't go into it all, but I'm sick of hearing it.

SOMEONE PLEASE TAKE OUR WII!!!!!

Just kidding.

Next time Mom goes off on a long day of work, I'm hiding the Wii remotes and the Nintendo. I don't care if I get yelled at or not, the gaming thing has gone out of control.

Oh crud, it's making me sick. Literally. :/

Mom should be home any minute.

Respect the niqab wearers

Honestly, I don't have any issues with niqabs. Some people call them " body bags " ( which, in my mind, is a very offensive term! ), but if a woman wants to wear them, what harm is she bringing to you?

I know, there are some of those people ( male or female ) who put on niqab and go rob some place, but those are only a few people! We should not judge all niqab-wearers to be terrorists or think that they are going to rob a store.

People aren't always going to agree on the same things ( regarding religion, life, etc. ) but please, if you find that a woman is wearing niqab of her own will, please do not bash her with your words and put her down. This is clearly a decision she has come to in whatever way.

Dance class starts in 17 minutes, I need to go get dressed. Bye!

Where Do You Buy Your Head Coverings?

Where do you buy your head coverings? ( Or niqabs, for those Muslim readers? )

I've never brought a head covering from an online store, but I really really want to, I could find some that cover more hair. ( I have several links to some in my favorites. ) And it seems like every time I have money, I end up spending it on something else.

So, if my dear readers wouldn't mind, where do you buy your head coverings/face veils? If you're not comfortable putting your answer in the Comment section, please feel free to email me. :)

Blessings! Have a great day.

Something that irritates me....

When people take the Lord's name in vain. I know no one's perfect, and I am guilty of it too sometimes, but seriously! There are words such as goodness.

So please, next time you are tempted to say the words " Oh my God " when you are surprised, think about what other word you could use. :)

Blessings

I'm covered but.....

Here's my conflict with taking dance again:

Sure, one of my costumes this year has a V-neck, but I don't think I'm exposing a lot.

But I want to wear very covering ( scarfs, kapps, veils, do you know what I mean ) head coverings and long dresses.

Yet I worry about people looking at me and saying " How can she go perform and wear THAT but wear head coverings, skirts/dresses? " It's the hypocritical part I worry about.

( Note: I cannot choose my own costume since I am involved in the group and production dances. )

Thoughts?

Dad's Diagnosis

Congestive heart failure :/ He told me last night. Apparently it seems to run on his side of the family.

Update on Dad

Got the staples removed yesterday, still seems to be getting dizzy.

Also, please pray that he can stop smoking. I think he's tried before, and I think he's finally trying again.

Thanks. :)

PS He's been smoking for a little over 40 years, so I imagine that being hooked on it for so long, it might be more difficult to come off of.

Blogger-Old Posts Resurrected

Hey, if you see an old blog post supposedly posted recently, it's because I most likely accidentally pressed Publish on it when I viewed the post on a draft/edit mode. ( When I should've just pressed View, if that makes any sense! )

Don't Dress Immodestly for the Heat

When I was walking around at the festival, I noticed something.

It wasn't deathly hot, as far as I was told it was about 75 or 80ishF.

When it's hot, what do you do? Usually if you wear jeans, some of you would wear shorts. Some of you would probably wear different lengths of shorts, but let me get back to the point.

Others wore skirts. I'm not talking about miniskirts ( though I did see a really really short miniskirt ), I am talking about skirts. Long skirts.

I am not instructing you to bundle up in the heat or wear what maybe uncomfortable to you, no. I want to know why when it gets hot outside, some people seem to strip down and wear little things??

Ugh, that doesn't sound right. I have worn a long skirt, shirt, and a head covering in the heat before, and I wasn't ( if at all ) uncomfortable.

I know some females aren't skirt and head coverers, but....do y'all see what I'm saying?

Here's the best day I can figure out to say it: Just because it's hot outside doesn't mean you have to dress immodestly. Wear shorts or skirts if you want, but please wear one that is an appropiate length.

*Disclaimer: I am a teenager and I don't have the tact of an adult. I am doing the best I can to have tact and I apologize if I haven't worded any of my posts right, and offended any of my readers. :)

Update on Dad

He seems to be okayish. He still gets dizzy spells sometimes, and since he doesn't seem to want to keep his arm brace on, his chest area where the thing was implanted, it's bruised. Thanks for the prayers. :)
